30-60-90 day plan template for new hires, with an example
A 30-60-90 day plan sets out what a new person should learn and do in their first three months. It gives both of you something concrete to talk about at each check-in.
How the three phases usually work
- Days 1 to 30, learn: meet people, understand the tools and how work gets done.
- Days 31 to 60, contribute: take on regular work with less help.
- Days 61 to 90, own: run part of the work and suggest improvements.

- Keep the first month about learning. Early goals should be things they can control.
- Put the three review dates in both calendars on day one.
